Privacy Policy
LivePhoto Camera · Android package com.bitdance.livephoto.camera
Last updated: 22 September 2026 · Effective: 22 September 2026
The short version.
LivePhoto Camera has no user accounts and no servers of our own. Every photo, video and Live Photo you shoot, import or edit — including all AI features such as beauty retouch, object removal, background removal and image enhancement — is processed entirely on your device and is never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
What does leave your device is limited to: usage and crash statistics that describe the app rather than you, an advertising identifier used to show ads, and your subscription status from Google Play. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time (see Section 5), and removing the app removes everything it stored locally.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the LivePhoto Camera mobile application (the “App”) collects, why it collects it, who it is shared with, and what choices and rights you have. It applies to the App only.
1. Who we are
The App is published by BitDance AI Studio - Fun, Creative & Smart Tools (“BitDance AI Studio”, “we”, “us”, “our”) — the developer name shown on our Google Play listing — which acts as the data controller for the information described in this policy.
You can reach us about anything in this policy — questions, requests or complaints — at bitdancetech@gmail.com. This is our contact channel for privacy matters, and we aim to respond within 30 days.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Photos, videos and audio — processed on your device only
The App accesses your camera, microphone and media library so that you can shoot and edit content. All of this stays on your phone:
- Camera and microphone. Used only while you are actively in the camera screen. Audio is recorded only when you are recording a video or a Live Photo. The App does not listen in the background.
- Photos and videos you select. Read from your device so you can edit them. Android 14 and later also support granting access to selected items only; the App fully supports that mode.
- Files you create. Saved to your device’s gallery or to the App’s own storage.
We never upload your photos, videos or audio. We operate no media servers and have no technical ability to view, copy or recover your content. If you lose a file, we cannot restore it for you.
2.2 On-device AI processing
Several editing tools run machine-learning models. All inference happens locally, using Google ML Kit and TensorFlow Lite:
- Face detection (Beauty tools) — locates the position of faces and facial landmarks so smoothing and tone adjustments can be applied to the right area.
- Person and subject segmentation (background replacement, object removal, collage, motion effects) — separates a subject from its background.
- Image enhancement and object removal models — run on your device. The model files themselves are downloaded on first use (see Section 6); this is a download to your phone — none of your images are sent anywhere as part of it.
No biometric data is created or kept. Face detection produces only temporary geometry (bounding boxes and landmark coordinates) held in memory for the duration of the edit and discarded afterwards. We do not generate face templates or “faceprints”, do not attempt to identify or verify anyone, do not compare faces across photos, and do not store or transmit any of this data. The App does not use facial recognition.
2.3 Usage and diagnostic data
We use Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) to understand how the App is used and to find and fix crashes. This data describes events and devices, not the content of your media. It includes:
- Feature-level events — for example that a filter was applied, an export finished, or a screen was opened — together with parameters describing the choice that was made, such as which tab, tool or effect was used. Events do not contain your photos, videos or audio recordings.
- Device and app information: device model, operating system version, app version, language, country, screen size, network type.
- A randomly generated Firebase installation identifier, and an approximate location derived from your IP address (country / region level).
- Crash reports: stack traces, the state of the app at the moment of the crash, and technical diagnostics such as camera hardware capabilities and error codes.
- Whether a subscription is currently active, so that we can tell free and paid usage apart.
We do not assign you a user ID in our analytics or crash reporting, and we have no way to look up an individual person from this data.
2.4 Advertising data
The free version of the App is funded by advertising. Our advertising partners collect and process your Android Advertising ID (a resettable identifier), IP address, device and app information, and data about ads shown to you (impressions, clicks, and whether an ad led to an install). See Section 5 for details and your choices. Ad requests stop entirely once you subscribe.
2.5 Purchase information
Subscriptions and purchases are handled by Google Play Billing. Your payment details go to Google, never to us. We receive only the purchase token and entitlement status that tell the App whether your subscription is active. We also receive aggregated, anonymised sales reports from Google Play.
2.6 Install attribution
Google Play may provide us with install referrer information (which campaign or link led to the install). This is used to measure marketing effectiveness.
3. Information we do not collect
To be explicit, the App does not collect or ask for any of the following:
- Accounts, usernames or passwords — the App has no sign-in at all.
- Your name, e-mail address, phone number or postal address.
- GPS or precise location.
- Contacts, call logs, SMS messages, calendar or files outside your media library.
- The content of your photos, videos or audio recordings.
- Biometric identifiers or biometric templates.
- Health, financial or payment card data.
The App also has no social features: there are no public profiles, no feeds and no way for other users to see anything you make.
4. Permissions and why we ask for them
Android permissions are requested only at the point a feature needs them, and you can change them at any time in Settings → Apps → LivePhoto Camera → Permissions. Denying an optional permission disables only the related feature.
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
CAMERA |
Live preview, photos, video and Live Photo capture. |
RECORD_AUDIO |
Records sound while you are recording video or a Live Photo. Not used at any other time. |
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE |
Lets you pick photos and videos to edit, and lets the App detect which items are Live Photos. Partial (“selected photos only”) access is supported. |
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 9 and older) |
Saves your exported files to the gallery. |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS |
Two reminders to come back and capture something, generated on your device: one the day after you first open the App, and one each week. We operate no push server and send no remote messages. Declining this permission simply means no reminders. |
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW |
Optional floating colour-card fill light that stays on top of other apps. Only active while you switch it on. |
VIBRATE |
Haptic feedback when editing (snapping, alignment, sliders). |
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE |
Loading ads, downloading optional AI models and fonts, sending usage statistics, and detecting whether you are offline. |
com.android.vending.BILLING |
Processing subscriptions through Google Play. |
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID and the Android Privacy Sandbox ad permissions |
Access to the Android Advertising ID for advertising and ad measurement. |
Some advertising SDKs included in the App declare additional permissions of their own — such as
READ_PHONE_STATE, READ_BASIC_PHONE_STATE, WAKE_LOCK and the
Google Play install-referrer permission — which their SDKs use for ad delivery, fraud prevention
and attribution. We do not read this information ourselves.
5. Advertising and your choices
The App shows banner, native, interstitial, app-open and rewarded ads through Google AdMob, together with the mediation partners listed in Section 6. These partners may use your advertising identifier and device data to select ads, to limit how often you see the same ad, to measure performance and to detect fraud. Depending on your region and choices, ads may be personalised (based on inferred interests) or non-personalised.
How to control this
- Reset or delete your advertising ID. On most devices: Settings → Google → All services → Ads, where you can reset the identifier or delete it entirely. Deleting it stops personalised advertising across all apps on the device.
- Google’s own controls. Manage what Google uses for ads at My Ad Center, and read how Google uses data from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Consent in Europe. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the App shows a consent form from a Google-certified consent management platform before personalised advertising is used. You can change your choice at any time from Settings → Privacy options inside the App, where that option is available in your region.
- Remove ads. Any active subscription disables all advertising in the App. No ad requests are made at all while a subscription is active.
6. Third-party services
These are all the third parties the App communicates with. Each processes data under its own privacy policy.
| Service | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Advertising and ad measurement | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics) | Usage statistics and crash reporting | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Liftoff Monetize (Vungle) | Ad mediation partner | liftoff.ai/privacy-policy |
| Unity Ads | Ad mediation partner | unity.com/legal/game-player-and-app-user-privacy-policy |
| InMobi | Ad mediation partner | inmobi.com/privacy-policy |
| Hugging Face | Hosts the optional AI model files the App downloads on first use. A download request reveals your IP address to Hugging Face; no images are sent. | huggingface.co/privacy |
| Google Fonts | Downloads typefaces you choose in the text editor | fonts.google.com/faq#privacy |
7. How we use information
- To provide the App — capture, editing, export and saving of your media, all on your device.
- To operate subscriptions — verify entitlement, unlock paid features, and apply free-tier export limits and reward unlocks.
- To show and measure advertising in the free version.
- To keep the App working — diagnose crashes, camera and encoding failures, and performance problems.
- To improve the App — understand which features are used so we know what to build, fix or remove.
- To comply with law and to protect the rights, property and safety of our users and of us.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not send marketing e-mail (we have no e-mail address for you).
8. How information is shared
We share information only in these situations:
- With the service providers listed in Section 6, for the purposes stated there.
- For legal reasons — where required by applicable law or by a valid request from a public authority, or where necessary to investigate potential violations, prevent fraud, or protect the safety of any person.
- In a business transfer — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will post notice here before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not sell your photos, videos or audio — we never receive them in the first place. We do not publish anything you create, and nothing in the App is visible to other users.
9. Retention
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Your photos, videos, projects and settings | On your device, until you delete them or uninstall the App. We hold no copy. |
| Analytics events | In Google Analytics for Firebase, for the retention period configured in our Firebase console, capped at 14 months. It is then deleted automatically. |
| Crash reports | Up to 90 days in Firebase Crashlytics. |
| Advertising data | By each advertising partner, under its own policy and retention schedule. |
| Purchase records | By Google Play, for as long as required for the transaction and for tax and accounting obligations. |
10. International transfers
We are based in China, and our service providers operate globally — including in the United States and the European Union. Using the App therefore involves transferring the limited data described in this policy across borders, to countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those of your own. Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum where applicable), as implemented in the data-processing terms of the providers listed in Section 6.
Your media files are not part of any transfer: they never leave your device.
11. Your rights (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, our legal bases are:
| Processing | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Providing the camera, editing and export features | Performance of a contract — Art. 6(1)(b) |
| Subscriptions and entitlement checks | Performance of a contract — Art. 6(1)(b) |
| Crash reporting and security diagnostics | Legitimate interests in keeping the App stable and secure — Art. 6(1)(f) |
| Analytics and personalised advertising | Your consent, collected through our consent management platform — Art. 6(1)(a). You may withdraw it at any time. |
You have the right to request access to your personal data, and its rectification or erasure; to restrict or object to processing; to data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time (withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before it). To exercise any of these rights, e-mail bitdancetech@gmail.com — please tell us your device model and approximate date of first use so we can locate the relevant records, since we hold no account that identifies you. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
12. Your rights (California and other US states)
We do not sell personal information for money. However, sharing an advertising identifier with advertising partners for cross-context behavioural advertising may qualify as a “sale” or “sharing” under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and under similar laws in other US states.
To opt out, delete or reset your advertising ID in your Android settings as described in Section 5, or subscribe to remove ads entirely. You may also e-mail us and we will pass an opt-out request to our advertising partners.
Subject to the exceptions in applicable law, you also have the right to know what personal information is collected and for what purpose, to request its deletion or correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Contact us at bitdancetech@gmail.com. We do not collect or process sensitive personal information as that term is defined by the CPRA.
13. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children. It is not intended for anyone under 13, or under 16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom (or the higher age set by your country’s law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in those age groups. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, e-mail us and we will delete it.
14. Security
Your media never leaves your device, which removes the largest category of risk by design. For the limited data that is transmitted, we use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and rely on providers that maintain industry-standard security programmes. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
15. Deleting your data
- Your content and settings: delete individual files from your gallery, or uninstall the App. Uninstalling removes all local data it created, including cached files, downloaded AI models and preferences.
- Analytics and crash data: ask us to delete the records associated with your device by e-mailing bitdancetech@gmail.com.
- Advertising data: delete your advertising ID in Android settings, which signals our partners to stop personalised advertising and delete associated profiles.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel at Google Play → Subscriptions. Purchase records are held by Google, not by us.
There is no account to delete, because the App never creates one.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App changes or as the law requires. The new version is posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. If a change materially reduces your privacy protections, we will give notice inside the App before it takes effect. Continuing to use the App after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
